Historical pictures of quarrying Bath limestone


Great website showing how Bath Limestone was quarried.

This website shows how Bath Limestone was quarried many years ago but little has changed other than more modern equipment to cut and move the stone. Large electrically driven chain saws are used to cut and then you have forklifts etc. The stone we use still comes from some of these same mines. Our current Bath limestone is from Elm Park. We have also used Monks Park now closed. Hartham Park and also Stoke ground. Box is now being quarried from the rear coming in and down from Hartham Park which is at a higher level.
