SOLID( PERRYFIELD WHITBED) PORTLAND CANTILEVER STONE STAIRCASE.

This cantilever stonestaircase is we believe the first of its kind to be installed without a supporting wall following its route. This is only fixed at the landing and at the foot of the stair. The methods of fixing and supporting these individual stone treads has been designed by Templestone and all Design rights belong to Templestone. All enquiries are most welcome.

the set of treads consisted of 13 in number

with the 14 th riser going to the landing edge

3 of our top masons worked on this job and 2 of

them were part of the team that went to Guernsey

to fit them

From this picture you can start to see the scupltural

affect of the floating stone with a smooth soffit.

The steel string is only fixed at the landing and to the

concrete slab below.

The steel string in grey and the block section

will be covered with a material to suit the clients

requirements and match the balistrading.

The steel string i s 100mm from the wall with

no support coming from it.

The wall is actually only a stud partition.

The beautiful curve of the stone with mouldings

wrapping around each tread make it a stunning

piece of work.

THE BIGGEST ADVANTAGE TO THIS METHOD OF INSTALLATION IS THAT THESE FANTASTIC STAIRCASES CAN NOW BE RETROFITTED TO EXISTING PARTY WALLS OR PLACED IN THE CENTRE OF LARGE ROOMS SO THAT ITS BEAUTY CAN BE SEEN FROM ALL ANGLES. TEMPLESTONE CAN THINK OF MANY WAYS OF ADDING TO THE METHODS USED TO CREATE WORKING SCULPTURES OF SOLID STONE.
